Breakfast of Champions
Another beautiful fall week, full of falling leaves to play with, piles of leaves to jump in, flying and floating leaves to chase!   The Breakfast Club gang got to play in the BIG puppy playpen where they have big trees, big rocks and LOTS of room to PLAY!!!  They love running, jumping, climbing and getting into every thing they are NOT supposed to be into!!!  It is nearly impossible to keep track of them at the same time OR keep them from getting each other in trouble!!!  They are oblivious to how VERY lucky they are that SNOW is not in their vocabulary yet.   We can only hope that will last a little longer so I won’t need to teach them what snow means either!!!

For Halloween, I dressed them all up in GREAT costumes (tuxedos, beach outfits, fireman coat, policeman coat, princess dresses, football jerseys, tie died T shirt, sweaters etc…) which they really did not appreciate all that much even though they were REALLY cute.  I took them to our bi monthly visit at Volunteers of America.  The Kids LOVE the puppies and the puppies LOVE the kids so much fun was had by all! Pictures are not allowed in the facility so unfortunately I could not document the fun, but trust me the pups get lots of GREAT attention and socialization with new people and the kids just enjoy their puppy kisses.

Friday we were off to my vet for their final vet check before going home.   They get their first puppy shot (OUCH!), wormed AGAIN (yuck!), and microchipped for permanent identification (BIG OUCH!!) Considering the size of the microchip needle, it is pretty impressive how well our little Cereals take it!!! No crying!!!  It helps that we rather quickly give them the good tasting wormer!!! Don’t ask me how I KNOW that it is good tasting!!!  They like going to the vet because everyone takes their turn holding and playing with them so they get lots of attention and treats.  My vet checked for things like heart murmurs, clear lungs, all testicles down, etc….. a LONG checklist for each pup, so that every possible health check has been done and documented.   A copy for each puppy is included with all other health documents for you and your vet to refer to.  ALL passed with flying colors – no surprises!!

The Breakfast Club litter is a fabulous, genetically clean, healthy, good looking bunch if I do say so myself.  They are very very similar, but to help just a little here are a few differences:

Males: Both large, Apple Jacks has a 3 crown ridge, Graham is a darker red. Both are very outgoing, adventurous pups

Females: Trix and Honey Chex are the largest, Pebbles is the smallest. Cocoa Puffs is just a shade darker red. Pebbles has the least amount of mask, Honey has the darkest. Trix is an adventurer, Pebbles is sassy and spunky, Cocoa is full of fun, Honey, Charm, Cinnamon, and Kix are happy, eager to please, gentle and snuggly.

Enjoy the last pictures!!!  Someday I need to take a video of the picture taking process cause it is a HOOT at this age!!!   As always the time has gone so fast, and the Breakfast Club pups have grown into the Breakfast of Champions!!!!  They will always be Champions in their grandma’s heart even if it is “Couch Potato” Champion!!  I know they will be CHAMPIONS in your hearts too!

A Good Start to a Great Day
What’s the best part of waking up???!!! Nine 5 week old puppies!!!! They are soooo much fun right now and so sweet and cute. I LOVE this age because they ARE so sweet and cute and I know that within a few weeks they will turn into nine little MONSTERS, I mean darlings!!! Fortunately for Grandma, that is when they go home to their new families!!! Divide and Conquer!!!

This week was a BIG one. The Breakfast Club met outside during the day so they could experience all kinds of new things – grass, twigs, leaves, lady bugs, big dog relatives, cars, lawn mowers, it’s endless….. but all sights and sounds that they need to absorb. They are learning to come when called when we go on our daily explorative ‘walk- abouts’. I feel like the pied piper of puppies having them follow me around the yard, coming when called while enjoying the GREAT outdoors, terrorizing the flowers, and “helping” me harvest the garden. Tomatoes, bell peppers, potatoes, and even zucchini and squash are toys!!! Carrots are great to carry around too!!! The walk abouts also serve as an opportunity to learn to go potty in the grass in a designated area. This will help you house train them when they come home to you. All you need to do is select WHERE the bathroom is going to be in YOUR yard, be sure to CARRY them to that spot the very first time you get home with them and that will help you get started on the right foot at your home. Crate training has also begun! I use a GIANT plastic crate so they get the idea that their bedroom is cozy and dark like a den. Hopefully, this will help you continue crate training when they come home to you. One big difference, however, they will be ALONE for the first time!!! Hang in there – it is worth it!!! – and will help you house train your puppy!

Puppy mush snorkeling has become MUCH less of a mess as the Breakfast Club gets better at it. They only get fed from Momma twice a day, and Spice is CLEARLY real OK with that!!! Those teeth are really in and they are SHARP!!! By next week, I will have them completely weaned as Spice is producing less and less milk all the time. It is a two week process that makes it easier on both pups and momma. Another toe nail trim of course, and they got wormed again with that yummy tasting yellow stuff.

Just in the last few days, I have begun to notice little differences in color, size and even personalities as they each become their own unique little selves. Keep in mind that these differences are generally VERY slight, but do make it possible for someone who pretty much lives with them to tell them apart!!! Personalities will continue to develop, coloring for the most part tends to blend together with age (if you like the white – enjoy it now as it will freckle and fade), size will constantly change as they go thru their own growth spurts. The males are already getting bigger than the females which is typical.
